Editing a document

You can open and edit a document directly from the Document History tab that appears on various ALB screens, for example:

Options

Description

Client Details

Lists documents that have been saved with the client record.

Matter Details

Lists documents that have been saved with the matter record.

Module Screens e.g. Conveyancing Details

Lists documents that have been saved with the matter module record.

You can also edit documents from the Document Management application.

The Edit option on the right-click menu refers to editing the document's settings on Edit Document rather than editing the document itself. See Editing a document's settings.

To edit a document:

  1. On the Document History tab, or on Document Management, double-click the document you want to open. The document opens in its associated application.

  2. Make any changes to the document that you need to make, then save and close the document.

If you make changes to a document and are not using versioning, when you save your changes, the changed document overwrites the original document. If you want to keep earlier versions of a document, you need to use versioning. See Document versioning.
