The term "enquiry" refers to a piece of work you are dealing with on behalf of a contact, such as a quote, which is non-chargeable and where the contact has not yet instructed you. In this scenario, the work cannot be recorded as a matter, but is instead created as an enquiry with the prospective clients attached as general contacts. This allows contacts to be recorded in ALB before being upgraded to clients and matters.
Enquiries are only created when a client inception workflow is being used, and are created regardless of the number of contacts that are created.
The process of associating prospective clients with an enquiry involves a client inception workflow. Once this is configured, the Add New Client wizard is replaced by the Add General Contact wizard, which automatically creates a project of type enquiry upon completion. A Client inception workflow can be built by your case developer from scratch using Designer Studio or by purchasing our standard Client-Matter Inception (CMI) starter pack.
If you would like to know more about Designer Studio and/or the CMI starter pack, please speak to your account manager or call Advanced on 03300 602102 to speak to a support representative.
