Having set the BTP licence to Base, when you are ready to upload the
VAT return:
- From within Accounts,
select the Tools ribbon then
click on VAT Enquiry.
- Set the date range using the From
and To date fields and the
Company and Branch
as required.
Note
- The company drop-down will only
display those companies that have credentials set up.
- Having selected the relevant
company, the branch drop-down is filtered accordingly,
displaying only the relevant entries.

- Click the Refresh
button to produce the totals based on your selection.
- Click Reconcile.
- A message displays advising that all VAT transactions
for the period will be uploaded to the Business Tax Portal and cleared
down. Click Yes.
- Click Yes
or No to the message asking
if you want the VAT period closed as required.
At this point, the data is being transferred to the Advanced Business
Tax Portal.
- A messaged displays confirming the successful
upload of the VAT reconciliation.
If there are any problems, e.g. the VAT Registration Number is wrong,
a message will display with advice.

Click the Details hyperlink
to view information with the Business Tax Portal import id so you
can cross check with the portal.
- When the upload has been successful, you need
to log on to the Business Tax Portal.
- On the Home
page, click Ready to Submit.
- Check the figures match those from the VAT
Enquiry.
- If everything is okay, click Submit
Return. The return is sent off to HMRC.
Each submission is given an import id which can be used to tie it
with the ALB upload
in case of an error. If there are any errors, click the View
link for further details.
