Where there are multiple bills for a single client or invoicee it is possible to process a single payment against all the appropriate bills. This is known as "consolidated payments" and applies to bank (BPB), cash (BPC) and nominal (BPN) payments, as well as payments from transfers (BPT) and unallocated credits (BPUC). See Paying multiple bills (Consolidated payments).
Consolidated payments are based on payment rules, which are pre-defined in Accounts Configuration and applied to each bill when payments are made. These rules control how consolidated payments are processed and how the payment amount is allocated across the various bills. Payment rules can be set to allocate payments against each bill in full, against each bill element in full or proportionally against each bill. See Setting accounts configuration options.
