Once time entries have been marked for billing a bill can be produced. Using the Bill Delivered (BD) posting slip time entries marked as 'Pending' in the Time Ledger are automatically picked up and included on the bill. However, it is possible to change the amount of time to bill on the posting slip's Mark Time tab. Here you can override the 'Pending' default and select time by date or value. You can also split costs between fee earners on the Profit Split tab.
To raise a bill for time:
Open the Bill Delivered (BD) posting slip. The posting slip opens for the currently selected client / matter.
If you want to override the pending time that has been picked up by the bill, select the Mark time option on the Mark Time tab. The Date and Value options are automatically enabled.
To select entries between dates, tick Date and enter 'from' and 'to' dates.
To select entries up to a specific value, tick Value and enter the amount.
If you have billed at stages at a marked-down rate and are now producing the final bill, ticking Apply profit split adjusted for life of matter will adjust the bill so that the balance of the costs are allocated as appropriate for each fee earner. The remaining costs to be billed figure must be entered manually in the Costs field on the Summary tab.
If you want to override the automatic profit splitting, click Next to move to the Profit Split tab and amend the profit split.
Click OK to produce the bill.
