Spell checking Word templates

This information only applies to Word templates.

By default, Microsoft Word checks spelling and grammar automatically as you type, using wavy red underlines to indicate possible spelling problems and wavy green underlines to indicate possible grammatical problems.

When variables are inserted into templates, initially they appear with a wavy red underline because Word doesn't recognise the variable in its dictionary. When checking spelling in a merge template you may want to ignore merge variables. The Spellcheck button allows you to remove these wavy lines so that merge variables are ignored if you run Word's spellchecker.

To remove the red underline:

  1. Click the Spellcheck button . The wavy red underlines are removed from the merge variables so that they are ignored when Word's spellchecker is run.
