About scheduled tasks

Reports and action rules can be scheduled to run at pre-defined intervals. This is particularly useful for scheduling items to be run at a specific time, on a particular day, e.g. at a month end. The scheduling process of setting the storage location, time and frequency that they are run is known as Scheduled Tasks, e.g. daily at 5pm, every Friday at 8am, etc.

Creating scheduled tasks is a two-part process - you first create the task that's going to store the items and set the task parameters, and then add the desired task items (e.g. reports). Instead of the task items rules being generated immediately they are stored together with their settings in the task, to be run when scheduled.
