Document locking

Via the Document History tab that appears on various ALB screens, there is the option to lock an individual document. Locking a document prevents other users opening it. Only users that have appropriate permissions can lock and unlock documents. User permissions are set up by the system administrator, in Utilities - Licensing and Users.

A document that is locked is indicated by in the Files list on the Document History tab.

To protect particularly sensitive documents and make them indecipherable when opened outside ALB, consider using encryption; see File encryption.

To lock a document:

  1. On the Document History tab, right-click the document and click Edit.

  2. On Edit Document, check the Lock Document box.

  3. Click OK. The document is locked.

To unlock a locked document:

  1. On the Document History tab, right-click the document and click Edit.

  2. On Edit Document, uncheck the Lock Document box.

  3. Click OK. The document is unlocked.
