About the Time Ledger

The Time Ledger is a view of all the time recorded against a matter, irrespective of where it was posted from in the system, i.e. the Desktop toolbar, the Timesheet or from within the Time Ledger itself. When time is entered so that it updates the Time Ledger straight away or posted from a batch in the Timesheet, it appears in the Time Ledger.

Split into two tab views - Ledger and Mark Time - the Time Ledger displays the key information for each transaction and allows the preparation of time for billing. The Ledger tab allows checking and editing (e.g. changing the amount, transferring entries to other clients / matters, etc.) and also shows cumulative totals for the following, split into chargeable and non-chargeable time:

The Mark Time tab provides a mechanism for filtering, selecting and marking multiple time entries for billing. Each time posting on the ledger has a status, which tells the system what to do with it when a bill is raised, e.g. Unbilled, Pending, Not to be billed, etc. These status can be applied 'on-mass' using the Mark Time tab.

Although you can add time entries from within the Time Ledger, its real purpose is the ability to monitor time postings and prepare them for billing. You can add, delete, modify and view time postings, as well as mark entries for billing.

The Project Time Ledger

The Project Time Ledger operates in much the same way as the Time Ledger, however, it provides a view of time recorded against projects, not matters. For more details please refer to Project Time Ledger.
